The official game titles this year were DOTA and Call of Duty 4 (COD4). This year, competition at the tournament took on a whole new level of difficulty when foreign players took the opportunity to fly to Singapore and participate at WGT 2008. Well-known exponents included Kingsurf, Tbun and DNA’Sk aka CyberTime from Malaysia for DotA; and XcN.COD4, bc and eMpNexT from Indonesia for Call of Duty 4. These participants pitted their skills against one another for fantastic cash prizes worth over S$14,000; and after bouts of intense match action, the champions emerged, with Team fnatic leading the pack in DotA, Evolution.Xtc in second place and Team: impreZa coming in third. Over in the first-person arena of COD4, the title of champion was conferred to XcN.CoD4, 2nd place went to Team: [Bf.Nut]Prodigy, and 3rd place winners went to Team: [Bf.Nut].

Besides the gaming competition, there will also be a myriad of activities that took place at the WGT booth. The general public were able to experience what it would be like to drive a formula one race car through the DBOX car simulator—which closely mimics true driving conditions; and special ‘bulletproof‘ vests were available with built-in force feedback so that users could experience and feel every kick, punch, slash and gunshot made by their enemies whilst gaming.
